Starting Your Aesthetic Journey Right: Consultation and Personalized Planning
- Hits: 110
Medical aesthetics is not simply a series of injections or device-based procedures performed to enhance the face. Each individual has a unique skin structure, age, lifestyle, and set of expectations. For this reason, the first step in any aesthetic journey should always be a proper consultation. A consultation is not about looking from the outside and saying “Botox here, filler there”; it is about listening to the person’s story, understanding their face, and recognizing the needs of their skin.

However, today the situation has somewhat changed. In some places—more businesses than clinics (!)—before the patient even sits with the doctor, sales representatives or highly persuasive individuals step in. Phrases like “Botox would suit you very well, we also have a filler package, let’s add laser too” begin to resemble a commercial pitch rather than a healthcare service. Of course, there is a financial aspect to this field, and naturally there will be payment; however, the priority of a medical service should never be sales. If procedures are being offered without a proper consultation and without personalized evaluation, then that place has shifted from being a healthcare provider to a poorly managed commercial business. My view is very clear: if you encounter such a situation, walk away.
The correct approach is to first understand the individual through consultation. Afterward, a personalized plan is created. It is important to emphasize that this plan is not a fixed and unchangeable list. It may evolve according to how the skin responds. For example, a plan may include three sessions of mesotherapy followed by filler in certain areas. Once the process begins, by the second session the skin’s response may be so positive that a third session is no longer necessary. Conversely, the improvement in skin quality may eliminate the need for the originally planned filler. The skin may already appear brighter, firmer, and healthier. In such cases, unnecessary filler is avoided; both excessive procedures and unnecessary financial burden for the patient are prevented.
This is exactly what we mean by proper planning: a flexible process shaped by the skin’s response. Each session is not independent of the previous one; rather, it builds upon it. For this reason, a reassessment should always be performed before each new session.
Ultimately, an aesthetic journey should not begin with quick decisions or ready-made packages, but with a conscious consultation and proper planning. This approach respects the natural expression of the face, does not alter the person’s identity, and supports a healthier, more balanced, and more vibrant appearance. The goal of medical aesthetics is not to create a completely different face, but to preserve and enhance the individual’s own face in its most natural form. An aesthetic journey that begins with health and progresses with proper planning brings not only beauty but also confidence.
